The Department of Botany, Holy Cross College, Agartala provides a dynamic academic platform for students to explore the fascinating world of plant life and their ecological relationships. Established in 2012, the Department initially offered Botany as an elective course and later progressed to a full-fledged Honours programme in 2018, with approval from Tripura University (A Central University).
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Botany provides a comprehensive understanding of plant biology, anatomy, taxonomy, ecology, cell biology, ethnobotany, genetics, biotechnology, biochemistry, plant physiology, plant pathology, microbiology etc. The Department is well-equipped with laboratories, botanical garden, herbarium room etc. to support teaching and research activities. Through a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory experiments and fieldwork, students are provided with a multifaceted perspective on the diverse facts of Botany. Furthermore, the Department is committed to fostering student awareness about the critical importance of conservation efforts to safeguard the plant's diverse biodiversity.
